The Step on Board programme is run by Trustees Unlimited, which was founded in 2009 on the belief that good governance strengthens civil society. We are a social purpose business and a founding UK BCorp. Our mission is to promote and develop excellent governance across civil society.
History
Trustees Unlimited was created in 2009 as a joint venture bringing together the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), Bates Wells and Russam. Its creation disrupted and shaped the trustee recruitment market and since 2014, has pioneered leadership development and volunteering through the Step on Board programme.
In January 2020, Trustees Unlimited became a wholly owned part of the Russam group. The organisation still works closely with NCVO and Bates Wells across several areas and NCVO continues to deliver core elements of the Step on Board programme.
We are a social purpose business with a mission to promote and develop excellent governance across civil society.
- We find people with great and relevant experience
- We develop the skills of potential and existing trustees and connect them with boards
- We match those people with civil society organisations in need of their skills
- We help individuals and boards thrive through coaching, development and support
Diversity
Diversity is at the core of what we do and we believe that diverse boards underpin excellent governance. We will strive to remove the barriers that prevent people from applying to become trustees and help our clients to recruit and support people with a wide range of skills and lived experience.
